Make your roof work for you — Save Money, Gain Energy Independence, and Protect the Planet.

At WATT Company, we help UK homeowners make the switch to solar power — affordably, simply, and with confidence. Whether you’re motivated by rising bills or doing your bit for the planet, we’re here to guide you from the first question to the first kilowatt.

Benefits of Going Solar

We’re proud to serve communities across the East Midlands — from Derby to Lincoln, Nottingham to Northampton — by connecting homeowners and businesses with trusted, MCS-accredited, local solar experts.

Why Solar Makes Sense for Homeowners
Save Money, Year After Year

Once installed, solar panels can cut your electricity bills by hundreds of pounds each year.
According to Ofgem data, a typical UK household can save £500–£800 per year depending on usage and location. With energy prices continuing to fluctuate, solar helps protect you from unpredictable costs — putting control back in your hands.

Smart Payback with Long-Term Returns

Most UK homeowners see their solar investment pay for itself in 6 to 10 years, depending on roof suitability, export income, and installation size. With warranties often lasting 25 years or more, that means decades of clean, low-cost electricity after the system has already paid off.

Boost Your Property Value

A solar-powered home isn’t just more efficient — it’s more desirable.
Research suggests that homes with solar panels may sell for more, and faster. Plus, you improve your EPC rating (Energy Performance Certificate), which is now a growing priority for buyers, landlords and mortgage lenders alike.

Protect Yourself from Rising Tariffs

Energy costs have risen sharply across the UK in recent years — and they’re not expected to stabilise any time soon. Installing solar panels gives you direct control: you generate your own electricity, reduce your reliance on the grid, and shield yourself from future price hikes. On top of that, you can benefit from the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) — a government-backed scheme that pays you for any unused electricity you send back to the grid. Solar doesn’t just protect — it pays.
And the sooner you act, the sooner those savings start adding up.

UK Weather: Surprisingly Solar-Friendly

Contrary to old assumptions, the UK is becoming an increasingly suitable place for solar energy:

-The Met Office reports record-breaking sunshine hours over the past two years, with many areas now seeing 1,500–1,800 hours annually.

-The UK’s moderate average temperature (~12°C) is ideal for solar panel performance. Unlike extreme heat, which can reduce panel efficiency, our climate supports consistent generation.

-With clear improvements in daylight and technology, UK solar is now more effective and reliable than ever.

Battery Storage: When It Makes Sense

Adding a home battery can help you store daytime energy for evening use — increasing self-consumption and savings.
While not always necessary, batteries make sense for:

-Households with high evening demand

-Homeowners working from home

-Those who want backup during outages.

You don’t need to decide now — we’ll guide you with clear options based on your goals and budget.

Your Solar Journey — Simple, Local, Trusted
ACT — Request Your Free Quote

Tell us a bit about your home — it only takes a minute.

We’ll use your postcode and address to connect you with the most suitable MCS-certified local installer in our East Midlands network.

Your installer will then assess your roof size, orientation, pitch, and shading using remote tools to generate an initial solar plan.

Why we ask for your energy bill:

By uploading a recent gas or electricity bill, you help us estimate your energy usage and design a system that reflects your real needs — not just averages.

Don’t worry if you don’t know all the technical details. That’s our job.

LEARN — Get Your Personalised Solar Proposal

Once you’ve submitted your details, your matched installer uses satellite and software tools to assess your roof’s size, shape, angle, orientation, and shading — and combines that with your actual energy usage (based on the bill you provide) to produce an initial solar design.

But this is only the beginning. To truly tailor the system, your installer will schedule a site visit. Why?

Because every home is different — and so is every household. A proper solar setup depends not only on the roof, but also on:

  • Your day vs night energy usage
  • Your plans for electric vehicles (EVs) or home batteries
  • How many people live in your home
  • Your long-term goals: self-sufficiency? cost savings? future-proofing?

During the visit, the installer will evaluate:

  • Wiring routes, roof access, meter location
  • Whether battery storage or EV charging integration is a good choice for you
  • How to match the system size to your lifestyle and ambitions, not just your roof

You’ll then receive a full proposal, clearly showing your expected:

  • Savings
  • System design
  • Payback period
  • SEG income potential

No hard sell. Just data, insight, and options.

SAVE — Confirm and Install

Once you’re happy with the proposal, the installer will handle everything from here.
You won’t need to chase paperwork or guess what happens next — the process is clear and well-supported:

Here’s what happens:

  • System design is finalised following your site visit
  • All permissions and notifications (e.g. DNO applications) are handled on your behalf
  • A convenient installation date is agreed with you

What installation involves:

  • Scaffolding goes up one to two days before the installers arrive.
  • The team fits the panels, inverter, (battery if purchased), and wiring — typically within one day
  • System testing and safety check follow immediately
  • Handover – You will be shown the key components within your solar system, and in many cases given a monitoring device, and from that moment on, you’ll be generating energy
Need extra protection?

If your roof is prone to bird nesting, the installer can offer discreet bird protection mesh to prevent pigeons or other birds from nesting under the panels.
It’s optional, affordable, and worth considering — especially in certain areas – some installers even offer it as part of their quote!

Peace of Mind from Day One

Your installer will walk you through how the system works, show you your monitoring tools, and explain what to expect — day to day, season to season.

Most systems require minimal maintenance, with nothing more than a light clean once a year.

And you’re never on your own — if you have questions or want to expand your system later, we’ll still be here to guide you.

EARN — Start Getting Paid for Your Power

Your solar panels don’t just help you save — they also allow you to earn money from the electricity you don’t use. With the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), you’re paid for every unused (kWh) your system exports back to the grid.
This is a government-backed scheme available to all UK solar users with MCS-certified installations and smart meters.

How it works:

  • Once your system is live, your installer will help you choose a SEG provider
  • You’ll sign a simple export agreement (just like switching an energy supplier)
  • Your smart meter tracks what you export and calculates your monthly earnings

Some providers offer fixed rates, while others pay based on wholesale market prices.
We’ll help you understand the differences and pick what works best for you.

Adding battery storage? Even better.

With a battery, you can:

  • Store daytime electricity for evening use
  • Reduce your dependency on the grid even further
  • Choose whether to export surplus or keep it for your own use

This flexibility means you don’t just earn — you control when and how you save or sell.

Long-term return

Between energy bill reductions and export payments, many homeowners earn hundreds of pounds per year — all while reducing their carbon footprint and improving their property value.

And with most systems expected to last 25+ years, your investment keeps paying you back long after it’s installed.

What to Expect After Installation

Your Solar Journey Doesn’t End at Installation — It’s Just the Beginning

Once your system is installed and switched on, the benefits start almost immediately. But what happens next? Here’s exactly what to expect in the days, weeks, and years after going solar.
Export Certification and SEG Setup

Once your system is live:

  • Your installer will provide your MCS certificate
  • Help confirm that your smart meter is SEG-compatible
  • Guide you through choosing and registering with a Smart Export Guarantee provider

SEG earnings usually begin within a few weeks — and your smart meter will automatically track what you export back to the grid.

You're Part of the UK's Clean Energy Future

By installing solar, you’ve done more than just reduce your bills. You’ve:

  • Boosted your home’s long-term value
  • Reduced your household carbon footprint
  • Joined the movement toward a cleaner, more resilient UK energy system

And you haven’t done it alone.
WATT Solar Company will continue to support you — before, during, and after installation.

Real-Time Monitoring, Made Simple

Your installer will set up your inverter and help you access an app-based monitoring platform (if included), allowing you to:

  • See your system’s live performance at a glance
  • Track generation by day, month, or year
  • Monitor battery status and export levels (if applicable)

These tools are intuitive and available on both Android and iOS. You’ll get a walkthrough so you can check your solar performance any time, with confidence.

Minimal Maintenance, Maximum Peace of Mind

Solar PV systems have no moving parts and require very little maintenance:

  • No annual servicing
  • No hidden upkeep costs
  • Just keep the panels clear of debris

For most households, rain does the cleaning for you. If needed, your installer can recommend safe cleaning methods or local professionals.

If Something Goes Wrong – You’re Covered

Although faults are rare, if performance ever drops or you experience an issue:

  • You’ll be covered by a clear installer warranty
  • Most equipment includes 10–25 year manufacturer guarantees
  • Your installer remains your point of contact for support or aftercare

Whether it’s a software issue, inverter fault, or panel performance concern — you won’t be left figuring it out alone.

And if you ever decide to add a battery or EV charger later, your existing system can usually be expanded without needing replacement

MCS Certification: Your Guarantee of Quality and Protection

Your installer will provide your MCS certificate — an official mark of competence, expertise, and excellence.
This certification confirms your system meets strict UK quality standards and qualifies you for government-backed support schemes.

And it’s not just about quality — MCS certification includes:

  • TrustMark consumer protection, giving you peace of mind and dispute resolution options.
  • An independent Insurance Backed Guarantee (IBG) — so if your installer stops trading, you're still protected.
